Breakfast anyone?: George Robinson puts on an outstanding breakfast the First & Last Saturday of the month. Cost is only $3.50 and it's well worth it. It runs from 7 - 10 AM.
Meatloaf Dinner: George again. He's having a dinner of meatloaf, mashed potatoes, gravy, vegetables, noodles, and dessert. All for a donation of $6.00 eat-in and $6.50 take-out. Saturday 29 January for 4 - 6 PM. Reservations are requested. Call the Canteen at 765-1152. If we have enough interest we could have a dinner once or twice a month.
Christmas Party: Laura did all the leg work and her brother Sam McClellen became Santa for a day. The kids had a good time. Thank you both.
Valentine Dance: The SAL is having a dance Saturday February 12 from 9 - Midnight. The band will be Moore Brothers. Donation $2.00. We have had good success with the SAL dances in the past. This looks like another good time to be had. Please join us.
DUES "R" DUE: Seems like every year you have to pay your dues to stay a member of the American Legion. Same thing this year. If you haven't already paid your dues, $22.00 please do so as soon as possible. Membership now stands at 745. We need a 125 more to meet our quota. We lost quite a few last year. Taps were blown for 36 of our members. May they rest in peace.
Honor Guard: Thank you Honor Guard. These men have provided services for some 70 funerals this past year. We are all very proud of their unselfish devotion to duty. Commander of the guard Merlin Hess is always looking for new members. If interested please give him a call at 765-2803 or call the Canteen at 765-1152. Hessy is also getting things ready for the Downtown Festival and the Fair Booth. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Legion Baseball: I hate to see it happen but the baseball program for Post 6 may become a thing of the past. Unless we have additional help in fund raising we will not have the money for this program. What we need is a volunteer to be liason between the Post and the team and coordinate a way to generate money for the team. Without it the team will be no more. If you or anyone you know is interested please call the Canteen.
TAPS: We have lost a lot of men since the last time. Jake Ott, Sherm Graham, Wally Kowaleski, Steve Shanichuck, Charles Hess, John Shivley, Frank Cimo, Harry Fred Bigler, John Showden, Jack Read, Bill Stewart, Charles Fontenoy, Elmer Laird, Sam Mollica, and Bill Elensky. May their souls rest in peace.
